Learn more about Hazel's House of Hope

mission

With the help of community partners, the primary goal of Hazel's House of Hope is to ensure food security, shelter, health, and financial dignity for the residents of Monongalia County and surrounding counties by fostering a synergetic, inclusive, and positive environment for all people suffering from homelessness, food insecurity, and substance use disorders in the community.

History

Hazel’s House of Hope is a new concept in the delivery of social services.  Hazel’s House of Hope is a charitable organization, nonprofit with a mission to promote the social welfare of the Morgantown, West Virginia area by improving inter charity communication, coordination, and collaboration through providing affordable space through which a variety of local nonprofit organizations are able to share and provide services.  It is a centrally located, very accessible facility that is becoming a hub community shelter and treatment center for our most vulnerable populations through our community partners who provide an array of services under the roof.

Hazel’s House of Hope has identified three major concerns in Monongalia County which also are existing in West Virginia and throughout the United States

Hazel’s House of Hope was made possible by a charitable gift in 2019 which provided approximately 108,000 square feet and 10.5 acres of land, which became Hazel’s House of Hope.  Hazel’s House of Hope is a facilitator with a goal of providing the affordable space to nonprofits who have the ability to ensure food security, shelter, health, and financial dignity to people by fostering a synergistic, inclusive and positive environment for people suffering from homelessness, food insecurity, and substance use disorder in the community.

Hazel's House of Hope began renovations in the summer of 2020 and those renovations continue today.  The roof has been replaced, central HVAC units installed, sprinkler system added, elevators updated and the list goes on.  Hazel’s House of Hope and all the organizations have a monthly scheduled meeting where we can talk with each other, be made aware of projects, fundraisers, and future plans.  This is a new concept and we will have some growing pains, but we will find our way working together.
